The Most Useless Machine

In the coming days you are going to hear a lot about the latest "must-have" technology. That's because of the big Consumer Electronic Show in Vegas. That's where all the tech companies unveil their newest "revolutionary" devices. You'll be hearing about everything from Google's new smart phone, to 3D TV, to Apple's tablet.
This is one machine that won't change the world. In fact it is more useless than the old Commadore 64 you have sitting in a closet somewhere. It comes form a company called SaskView, and yes it looks like a wooden box, and is a little creepy. Because as Arthur C. Clarke said, "there is something unspeakably sinister about a machine that does nothing -- absolutely nothing -- except turn itself off."
That's right, once you turn this on all it does is turn itself off. Just watch the video below.

Facebook: It is OK to Lie

You've heard all the noise about Facebook's privacy settings. Basically if you don't adjust your settings, your facebook page is open game on Google and Bing.

Facebook's answer; just lie. Yup, in a recent Wall Street Journal article Facebook spokesman Barry Schnitt said you are free to lie about you hometown, take down your profile photo, and now have the option to hide your friend list.

There is a problem with that, Facebook's terms of service, which states, "Facebook users provide their real names and information, and we need your help to keep it that way."

In another article on TechChruch, Schnitt says he was paraphrased, but he did go on to say, "you can indicate that your current city is 'Atlantis,' 'Valhalla' or, again, anything you like."

More privacy on Facebook

Millions of Facebook users can now decide exactly who sees the provocative picture of them.

The company is looking to streamline the space to better compete with Google, MySpace and Twitter.

Facebook as well as its users are trying to figure out how to monetize the site. This may put the company one step closer.

Google Hires Goats

Sure it's easy to just brush (sorry) this story aside, but it's pretty interesting if you're a goat. You get a ride to Google's Mountain View, CA headquarters and you can graze and poop (am...fertilize the land) all you want.

Google used to pay people to mow the lawn until they came up with this greener solution. So basically, these goats are taking away jobs from Americans. I'd like to see some work visas. First we had to worry about immigrants, now we have to worry about goats. Good Grief.

By the way, Yahoo also has a similar deal with goats.

Not everyone is happy about this arrangement. PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is worried about how these goats are transported to and from Google's headquarters. Is it possible to make PETA happy? I suppose if they were happy, they might be out of business. Carry on, PETA.
