While some companies spell out the actual numbers next to the words, those that do not essentially ensure that anyone with a smartphone has no way of calling them.

What smartphones need then is a very simple smartphone application: just a screen display of an "old fashioned" number pad, displaying the 10 number keys and the letters with which they are associated.
