Fish Tale with Proof

Here is blog contributor Patrick Baldwin:

By now, it's likely you've seen the video of the guy fighting a shark. (If not, click here)

The short version is these guys were out spear fishing when a shark got hungry. Now the guy who killed the shark is being forced to defend his actions. Really? I know the PETA peeps get upset when any animal dies but it's a freaking SHARK. Did you not see Jaws? Or does a 2 hour wrestling match with the most genetically engineered killing machine on the planet really sound like something anybody would do for kicks?

  1. It's because it took so much effort to kill - you might say that if he was just trying to defend himself, he needn't have bothered with a 2-hour struggle to kill the animal.

The first shot with the spear penetrated the animal at the gills. The Outside magazine article goes on to note that although the shot wasn't lethal, "the hunter's code that governs Clasen compelled him to finish the job."

I'm sure not many PETA supporters know anything about a "hunter's code" that compells hunters to kill animals that they injure.
